Mission Statement

_
The Piney Woods Fine Arts Association is dedicated to the promotion and awareness of performing and visual arts to enrich the lives of all the people of Houston County and the surrounding areas.

Leadership & Membership:

The organization is non-profit, and the board and officers serve without pay. Membership and board service is open to everyone regardless of race, religion, national origin, sex, age, or physical handicap. The PWFAA goal is to provide a consistently high level of entertainment and education in the arts to the schools and communities of Houston and surrounding counties, promoting cultural awareness and understanding. Programs are selected to further these goals.

Goals

  • Produce an annual season of performances with a variety of performing arts that are financially self-sustaining.
  • Develop performing and visual art programs that are integrated into Houston County schools.
  • Conduct annual programs with instructors in the performing and visual arts.
  • Provide a forum for performing and visual artists from the area served to perform or display their art.

"For personal sacrifice, outstanding service to their community, and a love of the arts that goes above and beyond the norm". - Winner 2000 Cultural Connection Award, Texas Commission on the Arts

_"Whatever big-city folks expect to find in a small Texas town, it more than likely doesn’t include an arts group like the Piney Woods ..." - Charles Ward, Zest Magazine-Houston Chronicle
